GS1 US Comments for the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Proposed Rule for Additional Traceability for Certain Foods:
Since the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) was enacted, the industry and GS1 US have continued to collaborate to enhance traceability processes by leveraging global standards and improving implementation guidance to serve the evolving needs of both the marketplace and the consumer. The filed comments, developed by the industry and GS1 US, focus on addressing the new principles and practices presented in the FDA’s proposed rule that are not commonly used in the marketplace today. These comments also include a number of overall observations as well as specific recommendations on the proposed rule. Please read the comments here.

Join the FSMA 204 Workgroup
Industry leaders, along with GS1 US, are coming together to determine how to leverage your existing investment in GS1 Standards to meet the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) 204 requirements. The FSMA 204 Workgroup will operate under the structure of GS1 US industry initiatives for retail grocery and foodservice.
Together, we will leverage GS1 Standards across the supply chain to address future FSMA 204 requirements.
