Workgroup Updates

The GS1 DataMatrix 2027 Sunrise for Healthcare Workgroup has completed the last workgroup deliverable – “Unlocking the Benefits of GS1 DataMatrix in Non-retail Healthcare” which has been published. The workgroup will remain paused until the results of a recently completed medical device barcode assessment are shared with the group and then we will sunset this workgroup.

The Rx Secure Supply Chain Workgroup is actively engaged to support pharmaceutical companies in complying with DSCSA requirements by using GS1 Standards. Currently, the workgroup is focusing on the Addendum on Exception Management in order to complete the suite of resources to assist with DSCSA preparation. Based on their collective experience and learnings, the workgroup updated the Implementation Guideline: Applying GS1 System of Standards to Pharmaceutical Chain of Custody R1.2 and its Addendum: Diagrams and XML Examples for Chain of Custody of Supply Chain Choreographies. The workgroup is continuing to define resources to support the industry and will soon publish a Best Practice Guidance for Associating EPCs When There are Multiple Business Transaction Types. For those interested in joining, please contact Ullrich Mayeski at [email protected].

The GS1 Healthcare US RFID Workgroup has completed the GS1 Healthcare US Implementation Guideline for RFID in Healthcare Manufacturing, which outlines how manufacturers use GS1 Standards with RAIN RFID to increase patient safety and operational efficiency. The group is currently meeting monthly while between workstreams. For those interested in joining, please contact Andrew Meyer at [email protected].
